Mathmos Aduki ni lamps

I have three Mathmos lamps at home: the airswitch, the tuba and the minilamp. I'm always on the look out for adding more to the family though. I check mathmos.com daily, despite the fact that a new product is released only once every few months. Now that I think about it, I should probably just join their mailing list. Where's the excitement in that though? The latest light delight comes in the form of the oddly named Aduki ni. Odder than the name though, is the product itself. The Aduki ni, when turned off, looks like, well, eh, to quote Mathos "Aduki ni looks like a totally metallic bean, heavy and perfect to hold in the hand." Odder than the product itself, is its description! When turned on however, the lamp cycles through a spectrum of colours, whilst still maintaining that futuristic finish. You can pause the lamp on the colour you want by pressing the button located on the Aduki ni's belly. You can keep the lamp plugged in, or let it sit freely, using the 6-8 hour charge. Mathmos states that Aduki ni is designed as an outdoor/indoor product, and that it's ideal for use in the garden in summer. Consisting of a "chrome plated die cast zinc base, a thermoplastic upper case with mirror coating, and silicone buttons," the Aduki makes me feel like I'm living in the future. Weighing 0.6kg and 150x150x85mm in size, it should be easy for me to find a place for it somewhere.
Available now from Mathmos for £40 in the UK, or $77 in the US.
