Peeps Marshmallow Maker

You know Easter is right around the corner when you start seeing all the Peeps in the stores. This is one holiday treat I just don't get, especially the strange tradition of leaving the Peeps out uncovered for weeks to harden before consumption. And this isn't just a regional phenomenom - I've seen people do this on both coasts. If you're as Peeps obsessed as some folks I know, you may delight in the fact that you can make your own with this Peeps Marshmallow Maker. Comes with everything you need including fun molds to make your beloved Peeps so you don't have to wait once a year for them at stores. Now can somebody tell me what the appeal of Peeps is? I just don't get it...
From Fred Flare.

I think it's that they are cute more than edible. I think the marshmallow peep inside the hollow chocolate egg is a nifty idea. One major disappointment with peeps, they don't melt quite like marshmallow. I tired a Christmas style peep in hot coacoa- yuck. Too bad, the marshmallow chocolate egg combination would be neat for smores.

I just love comments like "this isn't just a regional phenomenom - I've seen people do this on both coasts." Well, that pretty much covers it, I guess. What is all that stuff that you fly over when you're switching coasts anyhow?

As as European I must say: 'What the #$^&* are peeps?'

Dia, I'm not discounting any other parts of the country, all I was saying is that I've lived on both coasts and seen people "dry" up their Peeps. I thought it was some weird, East Coast thing only before I moved out west and saw people do the same.

call me crazy (you won't be the first), but i think peeps are repulsive. just the thought of marshmallows which are already 99.9% sugar anyway then coated with dyed granulated sugar makes me dry heave. i really think carol's right, their appeal is all about cute little chickies, bunnies and duckies, which is just as sickening. DEATH TO PEEPS!

Peeps aren't just a once a year thing. I was shocked to find Halloween and Christmas versions in the stores during those holidays.
I like my Peeps a little dry, just because fresh ones are a little too mushy for me.

Best thing to do to a peeps. Stick in a microwave and watch it blowup. Usually just need a minute.Anthing longer and you run the risk of the sugar starting to burn

They're peeps! What more a reason do you need? And if you don't want to leave them out to harden just pop then in the freezer for a while, they taste best that way.

I have a friend who does the drying out peeps thing. He got a peep maker as one of his wedding gifts. His wife was less than thrilled.

a roommate and i once left a package of peeps on the shelf for over a year, and then, in a moment of silliness, tried to roast them over the campfire the way one does marshmallows. i honestly can't remember if it worked, i.e. how they tasted, because we were falling about laughing over how awful it was to be burning bunnies on a stake. by the way, here in england, no peeps to speak of, but some sort of upscale two-tone versions (already skewered on a stake) shaped like ducks. "brochette easter mini assorted mallows on a wooden stick" the label says.
