I've never owned a mouse that I thought was really comfortable for extended use, and it's nearly impossible to use one on little airplane tables or on the train. This is a common complaint and one that screams out for design innovation focused on how the mouse relates to the muscles and nerves in the hand and wrist.

The Mouse ATC (stands for "Advanced Translational Control") is an ergonomic mouse designed by Wolfe Systems and engineered by Iguana Robotics. At first glance, the most obvious difference between the Mouse ATC and the traditional mouse is that it operates from a stationary spot, so you don't need a mouse pad. But this new design has much more to offer than the elimination of the mouse pad. According to Wolfe Systems: "The Mouse ATC translates the common everyday easy and natural movements of rotating the fingers about a point and rolling the forearm around a handle. The major muscle groups are utilized in these ordinary movements vs. the fine muscles which can be irritated in conventional mouse use."
