Evil alarm clocks - the Sfera Alarm
I have always had a very hard time getting up in the morning, apparently since I was a kid. Back then my mom had to resort to her creativity every single morning to try and motivate me to get out of bed. Now, as hard as it might be for me to leave the comfort of my blankets and pillow in the morning, none of these hellish alarm clocks that are being developed (see clocky) could make the process easier for me. The only effect they have on me is to put me in a very bad mood at the start of my day.
Though, if you are a sadist and need your daily dose of meanness to get out of bed, the Sfera Alarm might do the trick. The Sfera Alarm basically hangs over your head (already annoying feature #1) … you can figure out the mechanics for yourself. With every snooze, this sphere of evil moves closer and closer to the ceiling until you have to get up on a ladder to turn the stupid thing off.
But hey, the Sfera Alarm is also a light bulb and a radio … now we are talking!

Heh, I used to have BIG problems getting out of bed when I was a student (party all night...)
During my exams I HAD to get up, and then the speaker of my little radio alarm clock died. So I did what any geek would do, I opened the casing, took the two wires leading to the dead speaker, clipped them, soldered them to an audio jack, and plugged that into my guitar amp. Jacked up the volume, turned on the distortion, and set the clock.
The next day I woke the entire dorm with a BREEEEEP BREEEEEP BREEEEEEP from hell. People still remember and hate me for that. I did make it to my exams on time ;)

I like the retracting alarm clock! Yes, I too am terrible at getting out of bed. My partner is slightly better -- and he pushes "snooze" for us both, which I pretty much sleep right through. (I am also super selfish when sleepy/just waking up.) So I think the only one that will work for me is the puzzle alarm clock. I may buy one, will report if I do.
