Cosmetic Refrigerator

Cosmetic_Cooler.jpg

My mom always used to keep a bottle of Clinique toner and lotion in the refrigerator (you know, that yellow lotion in those classic, frosted glass bottles). It sat next to the peanut butter and salad dressing on the 2nd shelf on the inside door. I never thought anything of it because it was always there, but a friend of mine asked me about it one day. So I asked my mom and she just replied very matter of factly that it keeps the cosmetics fresher, what's so weird about that?

So I don't know if it's an Asian thing, but there are many models of cosmetic refrigerators available, like the one above from SeHwa, a Korean company. And I guess it makes sense if you think about how cosmetics are like a bacteria breeding ground. Or maybe we'd rather not think about that at all.

yi:

when i was visiting asia i saw a lot of these refrigerated cosmetic cases, but they were all for keeping in your car... i guess so your makeup doesn't melt in the summer time heat.

i find it more odd that you kept the peanut butter in the fridge.
