Adjust-A-Spoon

adjustaspoon.JPG

Do you ever tire of fumbling around with a ring of measuring spoons? Well, this Adjust-A-Spoon was designed for you! Made of stainless steel and dishwasher safe, you can slide your way to your desired measurement with what appears to be a minimum amount of hassle. I could definitely see myself replacing my set of spoons with one of these when they finally wear out.

I've been using these for the past 6 months and actually find them rather annoying. It's hard to get everything out and you have to take the slider off the spoon part to clean. I'm actually looking for a plunger style measuring tool which Alton Brown uses on Good Eats.

Pampered Chef has had these available for several years now, as those of us who have hosted a show know. But they're not as sturdy looking. Merely plastic.

I've had one for years...

Pampered Chef has had plastic versions of these forever, but it figures that KitchenAid would think of a way to make them even pricier! (Not that I don't love KitchenAid - my mixer rocks.)

I used to use the Pampered Chef ones until they got brittle and cracked. Then I "upgraded" to these versions from KitchenAid but within 2 months the metal started to corrode and streak in strange ways. I threw them away and now I'm trying measuring spoons from Oxo which are a pain to manage in the drawer. Next I'd like to try the new ones from Chefn: http://www.chefn.com/products/gadgets/sleekstor_spoons.html

Don't throw away your set of individual spoons. These are good for dry ingredients but worthless for liquids and things like mayo, sour cream, and peanut butter.

A good cook needs more than one measuring spoon and cup set anyway, at least one for liquids and one for dry ingredients (especially for baking).

I might not be much of a cook but I've always found that the 'just wing it' style of cooking has served me well. At least, it hasn't killed me (yet) ;)

I'm sorry but I have to agree with the other commenters. As nice as these look and as good an idea as they are... In practice - they suck. Get a desent set of non-reactive measuring spoons. (non-reactive so they don't force chemical reactions in your food products and spoil the taste, or so they dont rust if you use a salty based food like umm.. salt)
