In Madrid: Austria @ Arco '06

At this year's ARCO art fair, Austria is represented as a special guest, with many artists and galleries showing work. Additionally, for those who like their art spiced with a little digital, there are two exhibitions in conjunction with ARCO'06 currently at Media Lab Madrid as well as a symposium on Directions of Digital Art.

Das Blau leather iPod cases

Das Blau makes these stylish leather Versa 5G iPod cases that look to be quite functional too. The cover flips open and the belt clip turns into an adjustable stand so you can watch videos without having to hold the device in your hand, and the dock connector is accessible when the case is in the stand position. Eight hand-made designs for the 30GB and 60GB models, all very lovely, are on sale this month for $46.99 each (regular price is $59.99), on the Das Blau website and at Amazon.

Das Blau's Wrap case for the Nano comes in (by my count) 28 different designs made of leather with an iridescent lining and plastic sleeve for the iPod. The Wrap is available from Amazon for $24.99.
Thanks for the tip, Katja.

Piripicchio Clothes Shaver

I absolutely hate when knitted clothes start to pill, so I've developed this habit of picking off the fuzzies from my sweaters. At the risk of sounding completely OCD, I'll pick at my knitted items till they're fuzz free while watching TV or some other mindless activity (I know, I know). I can't vouch for how well these work, but think of all the time I'd save if I had an electric clothes shaver. The ones designed by Stefano Giovannoni make me want to go get one and grab that sweater hanging in my closet that I've relegated as "beyond hope".

Space Pak for shoes

Who else, besides me, throws their shoes in a plastic grocery bag before packing them away in a suitcase? I swore that one of these days I was going to get some proper packing cases for my shoes that might help them from getting squashed by the time I claimed my luggage at baggage check. These Shoe Paks are the perfect thing. They're structured cases, as opposed to bags, so it might further help protect your shoes from the squash factor and it will keep the rest of your packed clothes clean. At home, they make nice storage cases to protect those special pair of shoes from dust, pets, and in my case, curious toddlers.
