Scooba Roomba - Woomba?

scooba.jpg

Technology, the great liberator of women in the home. Fact, or fiction? Despite myth-busting surrounding how much "freedom" women can earn through household technology, we just seem to looooove those "time-saving" devices, especially when they're automated and "cute."

From iRobot, the makers of the Roomba, we have a floor-washing robot called
Scooba
. Autonomous enough to avoid carpets, furniture, and access hard to reach areas, the Scooba executes a four-stage process in cleaning floors (prepping, washing, scrubbing and drying.) It even claims AWARE robotic intelligence in order to ensure every scrap of space is cleaned. The only improvement to the iRobot line I can think of would be a little pink robot that cleans your noony...

Does anyone actually own one of these...or the Roomba....is it worth it, or is it gimmicky?

margaret:

I got one a couple of weeks ago, and, yes - it does work and does save my back - the cats are intrigued by it (the Roomba)and I can turn it on, close the door to a room, go out or stay in another room, and in about an hour it has thoroughly vacuumed the room. It's fun, and does seem to work - a lot lighter to lug around than a vacuum cleaner.

Wendy:

I got a Roomba for Xmas. We were skeptical, but it really does work. It does a better job than I ever did vacuuming. I love hearing it work away downstairs while I type upstairs. I think we've gotten addicted to really clean floors.

Luna:

I give up, what's a noony?

katherine:

Luna, just click on the link provided and watch the video. All will be clear then.

No-Noony))):

The link does not work: "This video has been removed due to terms of use violation."

Again - what ist a noony? Can anybody explain?

Thanks in advance!

katherine:

oh what a shame. looks like SNL made youtube take the content down. the link was to a saturday night live skit parody of the Roomba. it was called the "Woomba" and was supposed to be used for feminine hygiene. of course it's SNL so it was a little tasteless, but very funny.

No-Noony))):

Well, does "noony" mean female breeding organs? Funny... indeed.(

katherine:

"noony" is the term tina fey (SNL cast) uses for her lady parts. as far as i know it's not common slang, but that makes it more funny.
