Introducing the faces of Popgadget

Occasionally, readers are curious about what we look like, so we've finally put up headshots on our "About Us" page. And since our writers have never been properly introduced as they've come on board, here's a brief history of our writing team:

Mia Kim began writing Popgadget all by her lonesome in May of 2004. The seeds of Popgadget formed in her head while she was attending film school and then the Interactive Telecommunications Program at NYU. As a closet tech junkie, she grew tired of having to satisfy her geek needs by buying men's magazines with bikini-clad models on the cover. You can also see Mia as tech stylemaker at Glam.com.

Regine Debatty, of the awesome technology and new media blog we-make-money-not-art, became a contributor a few months after Popgadget's launch, writing from Italy about tech design from her unique point of view. Regine's posts added a decidedly European sensibility to Popgadget.

Not long after, Camilla Beltrami, also in Italy at the time -- now writing from Amsterdam where she works as an information architect -- joined the pop crew, rounding out our European coverage and bringing her love of gaming to the mix. Camilla also graduated from NYU's Interactive Telecommunications Program.

saresha photo.jpg
Saresha Chan joined us from Singapore to write about tech products and news from Asia, including some bizarre and useful innovations in heatlh and beauty products. This past year, Saresha has been studying in Australia.

Katherine Moriwaki, also a graduate of NYU's Interactive Telecommunications Program (where would we be without ITP?), joined Popgadget a few months ago as our East Coast editor (we got to know her as an occasional contributor earlier last year). As an artist and scholar in the area of technology, fashion, and social interaction, Katherine often focuses on wearables and accessories.

sheigh photo.jpg
Most recently, we've welcomed Sheigh Crabtree, our West Coast editor who works as a film and tech reporter for the Hollywood Reporter. She's credited with, among other things, breaking the story on the Sony PSP corporate grafitti.

jenna photo.jpg
Jenna Park, our creative director, wears multiple hats. In addition to creating the design for both Popgadget and Babygadget and participating in management, she writes for both blogs, all while juggling an energetic toddler who has recently cut back on naps. And, like Mia, Camilla, and Katherine, she's an ITP alum.

Though mostly behind the scenes, as chief cook and bottle washer, I occasionally weigh in with my two cents. With me behind the scenes are Ann Poochareon, our patient and generous tech guru, and Geraldine Chung, our great programmer (who may be getting more than she bargained for).

So nice to put a face to the people whose blog I so much enjoy reading.

Keep up the great work ladies. You're amongst the short list of sites I read daily, and for good reason.

You guys are incredible- thanks for all this. :D

Hey ladies. It's good to see the faces behind all the hard work. Thanks!

hah now i know why i adore popgadget so much: it's the itp sensibilities!

(i didn't grad from itp, just took a few classes there while audio-ing away in the music tech grad program) (oh and my time hanging at itp may have jump started my hardware hacking. heh.)

fbz
