Flat sample atomiser

valoisimagin.jpg

I can't remember the last time I opened a magazine scent strip for a sniff, not since I came to realise that they all smell the same. An unpleasant smell, in fact, which, once exposed to the air, meant I had to hold the magazine at a certain distance to read. In any case, as any perfume enthusiast will tell you, the various facets of a perfume can only be fully appreciated dabbed or sprayed onto skin.

I'm only surprised, therefore, that it's taken this long for somebody to come up with a way to put a proper perfume sample in a magazine. Valois has created Imagin, which is a completely flat sample you can actually spray from. The bad news (if you're a perfume snob like me) is that Este Lauder has an exclusive one-year deal with Valois for the use of Imagin in magazines.

See the press release for Imagin here. Via Now Smell This.

Introducing the faces of Popgadget

mia photo.jpg

Occasionally, readers are curious about what we look like, so we've finally put up headshots on our "About Us" page. And since our writers have never been properly introduced as they've come on board, here's a brief history of our writing team:

Mia Kim began writing Popgadget all by her lonesome in May of 2004. The seeds of Popgadget formed in her head while she was attending film school and then the Interactive Telecommunications Program at NYU. As a closet tech junkie, she grew tired of having to satisfy her geek needs by buying men's magazines with bikini-clad models on the cover. You can also see Mia as tech stylemaker at Glam.com.

Regine3.jpg
Regine Debatty, of the awesome technology and new media blog we-make-money-not-art, became a contributor a few months after Popgadget's launch, writing from Italy about tech design from her unique point of view. Regine's posts added a decidedly European sensibility to Popgadget.

Not long after, Camilla Beltrami, also in Italy at the time -- now writing from Amsterdam where she works as an information architect -- joined the pop crew, rounding out our European coverage and bringing her love of gaming to the mix. Camilla also graduated from NYU's Interactive Telecommunications Program.

Dog-e-Tag digital dog tag

tag.jpeg

Dog-e-Tag is the digital world's answer to keeping Fido from getting lost. It's ability to store large amounts of data puts the old-fashioned metal tags to shame. Spot's tag can now have more than his name and owner's phone number. Multiple reach numbers for the master or mistress, home address, medical information... the possibilities are endless. Comes in six stylish colors that are sure to complement any collar or leash.

Venta: not your average humidifier.

venta

Now that we're in the dead of winter and suffering the effects of the cold, dry air, moisture becomes an area of key concern. Keeping a proper moisture balance helps one stay healthy and sane (I'm going crazy itching from all the dry skin)! The standard fare of humidifers will ensure that your air is moist, but Venta's line of Air Washers go a step further to actually wash the air in your room. By basically drawing air into its water-filled chamber and propelling it back out, the Venta Air Washer bathes the room air with clean water. The process effectively traps airborne particles of dust, pollen, and other contaminates while propelling moisture-laden air back into the room. It's like getting an air purifier and a humidifier in one unit. The unique process also eliminates all of the white dust issues common in typical humidifers. Available in a variety of sizes, these units are quiet and extremely well engineered (though the prices are reflective of it). Get a Venta and breathe easy this season... by the way, can you pass the lotion.

Adidas +F50 TUNIT

adidas_+F50.jpg

After the Adidas_1 and its intelligent cushioning , Adidas just launched another interesting shoe, the +F50 TUNIT. The +F50 TUNIT is a modular soccer boot that will allow players to customize their own shoe. The new boot consists of three interchangeable components: the upper, the chassis and the studs, and features different styles and functions. The player can combine the components to build the ultimate soccer boots for their feet and playing style, and also adjust the shoes to different terrains and weather conditions.

Expect to see the +F50 TUNIT at the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
