Bedside gun lamp- Starck
I'd never have a gun in my house, but perhaps if I have a Gun lamp by my bed, potential intruders will see it and think I'm just behind the next wall in my gun den, with a cocked pistol in my hand, and run away. The gold-plated aluminum lamp was cast from an actual gun, for a freaky level of authenticity. Designed by Phillipe Starck and available now as a special order from Moss, for $995. Via Charles & Marie.
The breadth of Starck's work in industrial design never fails to amaze me (there seems to be a Starck line of everything from toilets to computer mice), but he may have reached the apex, literally, of his career with his commission to design the Virgin Galactic spaceport in the wastelands of New Mexico. Seriously.
But will the people who'll be paying $200,000 a pop for a six-minute ride 70 miles above the earth realize that they are being launched from the world's largest lemon juicer?
The Virgin Galactic Spaceport is a gigantic version of his Alessi Juicy Salif Lemon Juicer. But fortunately, should SpaceShipOne passengers bring back a giant-headed alien, it can probably be pacified with a scalp massage.
