Urban Craft Uprising
The Left Coast city to be in this past weekend was Seattle where Bust sponsored the annual Urban Craft Uprising. Over fifty crafty vendors, keen on saving the world from mass production, showed off their wares to an overflow crowd. Directly reflecting the current DIY revolution, UCU vendors were chosen by a jury based on the innovative nature of their handmade work.
For those of us who missed it entirely, we're still in luck, since lots of gear from the show can be viewed online, such as: a sushi candle making kit; Susan Stars' make your own skirt kits and glam sushi jewelry; Totinette's sewing machine tote; Felt Cafe's iPod cozies; Clarity Miller's killer A-line pirate skirt and Sewdorky's frosted felt donuts (pictured).
The Seattle Post-Intelligencer blurbed and not martha blogged about the event but neither account quite makes up for being there. UPDATE: Obvious Diversion was there too!
