Minus the gnarly ding in the bottom, my old Canon SD300 Digital Elph is relatively hot-rodded. It has 4.0 megapixels, a 3X zoom, and I'm packing two 512 MB SD cards. Still, I can't help but eyeball Canon's newest Elph, the Canon Powershot SD30. The new model comes in violet, black, gold or red camera bodies. It's 5MP with a 1.8-inch LCD display, but it's only got a 2.4X zoom. Unless the silky finish easily smudges or flakes I'll bet the black and violet bodies disguise the knocks pretty well. Those who buy an SD30 from Amazon, and remember to enter the promo code, get a free 265 MB SD card. Still, first you have to cough up $399.99 and then wait in line until it's available.
