In the Can

cansafe.jpg

If you really want to hide those valuables get a "Can Safe." Disguised as ordinary household products, these canisters screw open to reveal a hidden compartment. Sounds great for keeping those bad burgulars guessing!

available at the Container Store.

Ok, I remember a long time ago, (before the dynamic age of the internet) reading something in the news about an elderly woman who had hidden her jewelry in a similar "safe" can. Turns out she accidentally donated the canned goods to some charity's food drive one year. I think she had the charity ask whomever received the goods to please return them, they were family heirlooms, but I don't think she ever got them back.

Of course, the ajax can in your underwear drawer (for which, see: the film "Sideways") may stick out like a sore thumb...

notice how all of these cans are old-style. few of these consumer products are packaged in these cans any longer.

as a working thief (though i don`t do b&e), i wouldn`t find it hard to go straight for these now that i`ve seen them at the container store.

thanks for bringing them to my attention.
