Guitar Hero

I am not sure if buying this game is going to be a good or a bad idea. For sure I will be able to get back at my noisy neighbors and drive them insane with some musical prodigies, but the risk of not being able to leave the house ever again is just too high.
Guitar Hero can be very simplistically described as a guitar karaoke game where you get to play on a Gibson SG based guitar peripheral, with the all important whammy bar. You can’t really rock properly without a whammy bar.
IGN has a really good review of the game, written by a guitarist, which analyzes it from the perspective of a musician. The overall rating is 9.2. As a former guitarist in a punk band, I can’t wait to put my hands on this game.
You can preorder the Guitar Hero from RedOctane for $69.99. The price also includes a guitar controller which I believe to be essential to fully experience this game (you can also play the game using the regular PS2 controllers). You can add a second guitar for $39.99.

bag_n_shirt

Look! It's a bag... no, it's a shirt... Well, actually it's a "bag_n_shirt." This nifty creation from Zirkeltraining can be used as a bag OR a shirt depending on whether or not you decide to pull out the string at the bottom of the bag. It seems a bit gimmicky to me, but on the other hand, if I were throwing a big party it would be a cool and fun way to distribute schwag.

3 different aromas from your USB

We know that a USB port can warm your coffee cup (love this by the way) and give you a massage (not sure about this one), but with the Aroma Generator, your computer can now smell too! Choose among 3 scents that you can change from your computer.
All these USB accessories are a bit much, this one included. Without being able to smell these first hand, I imagine them to be like those Glade plug-ins. It doesn't tell you which scents it comes with, which is an important detail to omit, don't you think? And what's with the shape? Is it supposed to be a nose with feet?

The Blue Box

While waiting on line at the post office here in Amsterdam the other day, the Blue Box leaflet caught my attention. Here in Europe (at least in Italy, Germany and the Netherlands) the Post Office also offers banking services. You can open an account with the Postbank, which offers the same features as a “regular” bank account, but usually at a much lower cost.
The Dutch Postbank has a special account for kids between 7 and 11 years old called Easy Blue, and earlier this year introduced the Blue Box program. If you open an Easy Blue child account you get a USB “piggybank” (or Blue Box), that automatically counts money when you introduce it, and functions as a stopwatch, a photo album and a game device, giving the child access to an educational website with games and information about managing his/her money.
If you understand Dutch you can read all about the Blue Box Program on the Postbank site.
