Don't fall asleep

00003959g.jpg

The Drive Alert Master. OK, the name is rather silly but wait to see what it does. You're on the road and feel like having a nap. Just grab the DAM (acronym is not better than the name, sorry), adjust the wake up angle switch and place it behind your ear. When you begin to doze off and your head slumps forward the Drive Alert will emit a loud, powerful beeping sound to wake you up. And then? you're so startled that you drive off the road?

From El Pais.

this gadget should work in class and work meetings, right? maybe i should get my employer to distribute this as a gift at the next xmas party?? something useful and can increase productivity! i'd like to hear a personal review from a fellow blogger though...

I was once falling asleep behind the wheel and a bird flew in the open driver's side window, smacked me in the face, then flew out the passenger side.

No, really!

It was much more effective than this gizmo would be, except I had a bunch of feathers to clean up afterward.

Unfortunately the loud beeping sounds will also alert everyone around you that you are falling asleep and they will instantly become afraid. :p
