Live 8: Live Aid
Bob Geldof, the man and musician behind Live Aid and Band Aid, unveiled the lineup today for Live 8, a massive live, broadcast, and online, 5 stages in 5 cities show that aims to raise awareness of poverty in third-world nations. Geldof hopes the show will influence the world leaders present at the upcoming G8 Summit in Scotland in July.
The free concerts will be held on July 2nd in London, Paris, Rome, Berlin, and Philadelphia. Tickets are free but only obtainable through a lottery system. London is definitely the premier city as it will include U2, Coldplay, Madonna, Paul McCartney, R.E.M., Sting, and Robbie Williams.
I forgot Bono had such goofy hair 20 years ago but I'm sure we all did.
See the full lineup (more acts will be announced later).
