Gigabeat

Gigabeat is the new MP3 player from Toshiba that will feature the innovative Hitachi hard drive with perpendicular-type storage. Now what exactly does that mean? Effectively, it means that you will be able to choose between small and slim devices that will feature hard drives with up to 60GB of storage space. Effectively, it also means that as soon as the Gigabeat is available, you will probably need to go on a peanut butter and jelly sandwich diet for an entire month in order to be able to afford one ... but if you are interested in understanding this new Hitachi Technology then I would highly recommend watching their educational video, which got me almost as excited as learning about the player. It is funny and manages to explain very clearly what perpendicular storage is all about.
