Solar Flare messenger bag
The Solar Flare messenger bag isn't the first to feature a solar power source but it's a little less conspicuous (do you want people to know you can't wait to get home before you charge up again?) than the Voltaic bag and costs about a hundred dollars less. The Solar Flare has a padded laptop sleeve as well as pockets for a cell phone and a PDA. The solar power pack provides 2.5 watts of power and you need to supply the 12 volt adaptor for your devices. It would take many hours to fully charge a totally dead phone, but you can "trickle charge" between uses to keep it alive longer.
The Voltaic bag, while more expensive, has more options. It comes with a battery pack (charge it up at home) so you can still power your gadgets even if there's no sun. It also comes with a full set of common adaptors and you can buy additional ones, like one for the iPod (oooohhhh..).
If your solar panels die on you, you can get a replacement for just $30. It may not be the best-looking bag in the world, but it will power up just about anything short of a laptop.
