Splashpower wireless charging
Now that we've got Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, the next wire that has to go must be the charger's. Two Cambridge University engineering graduates have created Splashpower, a wireless charging solution. Working by means of electromagnetic induction technology, this consists of the SplashPad, a charging platform about the size of a mousepad, and SplashModules, extremely thin, barely visible power receivers that are attached to compatible devices. You can charge several devices simultaneously simply by placing them on the SplashPad. According to the inventors, charging speeds are the same as those of traditional plug-in chargers, even if there are a number of devices being recharged at the same time.
The first products are expected to be in the shops later in the year.
