Rechargeable Smart Battery for Mobile Phones
A Korean company, System Technology ByuckHae, has developed a smart battery back for mobile phones that can extend battery life by 800%. While two hours of talk time is probably sufficient for most people, phones are getting more power-hungry multimedia applications every day. In Korea and Japan there are phones that can receive satellite tv. The rest of the world may be playing catch-up for a while, but the Mobile Saver MPB 4000 will be available soon for heavy talkers.
The MPB 4000 is about the size of a small mobile phone and it contains an IC microchip to assure that the battery it's recharging isn't overcharged or short-circuited.
The battery pack will be available in 2005 for about $60.
