Popgadget in the Los Angeles Times
Popgadget is in the media this week in a big way - featured in this Sunday's Los Angeles Times (Calendar section, Web Watch, page E3), in an article by Christine Ziemba titled "Gift source offers gadgets with a softer side."
The article perfectly sums up our motivation:
Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, Shawn Fanning and even the Lone Gunmen from "The X-Files" are poster boys for the tech world. But in such a testosterone-dominated field, those with the second X chromosome are often left out of the mix.Mia launched popgadget because she was chagrined "that technology magazines and websites generally ignore their female audiences, and that women's magazines are usually light on gadgetry news and information." The story describes popgadget as bringing together "the style of dailycandy.com and the sensibility of Wired magazine" to provide "short reviews on new technology from around the world as well as news bits on health, culture and 'general neophilia'." Mentioned are some of my favorite popgadget moments, including Mia's review of OneDerWear disposable undies, and Regine's take on the Telesquishy. Thanks a million to all of our loyal readers for helping to bring this about. We'll be spreading our wings in 2005; plans for some exciting changes are in the works.
