Berliner Gramophone Turntable
My favorite things are combination high-tech/low-tech, and I think the Emile Berliner Gramophone qualifies. The gramophone lets you etch recordings onto any firm, smooth, coated surface like old CDs, postcards, and magazine covers. You talk/sing/whatever into the paper cup and the gramophone makes a record!
Two catches: first, if you want to share your aural masterpieces, your friends are going to need their own gramophones. The gramophone records won't play on a regular turntable, they're special.
Secondly, there is some assembly required and the instructions (PDF warning) look a little daunting. Still, for $69.99, it seems to be worth a try.
Available from Very Cool Things.
