Starting Them Young
You've probably seen the commercials airing on TV. The message is an important one, and dear close to our founding principles. The Girl Scouts are moving beyond Thin Mints. The Girls Go Tech campaign is aimed at encouraging young girls (and their parents) to develop an early interest in math, science, and technology and to maintain it as they grow to help ensure diversity in the hi-tech workplace.
The ads tell us that "studies show that by age 12, most girls lose interest in math, science and technology and their chance at most future jobs." By highlighting the math, science and technology behind everyday life, the organization's website looks to keep girls focused on the very foundations that are key to tomorrow's technology.
