Flexplay Self-destructing DVD
Remember the fuss surrounding those self-destructing DVDs that were going to beat piracy and make all right with the world? They failed miserably in limited trials and if anything, encouraged movie pirates to work just a little harder. Like a phoenix, the Flexplay DVD is attempting to rise from the "chemical compound" ashes. On November 17th, the Christmas movie Noel will be available in Flexplay format from Amazon for $4.99. Once the airtight seal on the DVD package is broken, you can view the movie as many times as you like within a 48-hour period before the disc is rendered opaque and useless.
Noel not only stars Chazz Palminteri, it's directed by him. No, it doesn't make me want to see it, either, even if it didn't blow up after two days.
