Wifi World
Grand Haven, Michigan is perhaps not the first city I think of when I think about places I want to live, but when I look at the orange blob on their wifi coverage map, it starts to zoom up on the list. The whole city is a hot spot. It's the first wifi city in the U.S. and the wireless provider, Ottawa Wireless, says it's the largest seamless wifi network in the world. There's even coverage in the lakes. Other cities, like Half Moon Bay, California, and Spokane, Washington have come close, but still have some gaps in their coverage.
There are other wifi cities in the world, with Pune, Jerusalem, and Zamora, among others, all claiming to be the first. Amsterdam is due to become a wifi city, and possibly Philadelphia, which at 135 sq. miles, would become the biggest wifi city in the world.
