What Does "Googling" Mean?
Insert stupid giggle. Thinking by Peter Davidson found an article by the Mirror UK that says a recent Virgin.net study found that 96% of women were uncomfortable talking about technology and didn't know the meaning of words like "googling" and "ISP". Who took this survey, "women" in pre-school maybe?
Eight out of 10 men knew a 512kbps broadband connection is 10 times faster than dial-up, compared with only half of women. Aout 1,100 people were surveyed for virgin.net about the internet. The consensus from women was: "It works, it's fast - that's all I need to know."
Gosh, I wish I could multiply by 10s like those smart men Virgin interviewed.
Peter also writes more on the issue of women and tech in an earlier post on Thinking.
