Picture What Matters
Phone cams are usually used to capture the mundane pieces of life that don't merit megapixels or SLRs. Things like unsuspecting girls and uh, a much-loved rollerskate.
Now's your chance to actually do some good in the world with your grainy little phone pictures. The newly relaunched YahooMobile is sponsoring Picture What Matters, a contest that is looking for images of things that really matter to you. The winning photographer will get $10,000 to donate to a favorite charity or cause. Runners-up can win brand-new camera phones.
My own entry is of my girl Mojo, who was born in the Korean DMZ. She understands about hunger and famine in North Korea so she chooses to save, rather than eat her last piece of kibble. She must have seen some terrible things before she was adopted.
Most of the entries so far are lame self-portraits. Please, someone out there must love something besides themselves. Right?
If we win, Mojo will be donating the money to her favorite charity, Friends of Animals.
Yahoo supports uploads of camera pictures from most carriers. Check YahooMobilePhotos to see if your phone is supported.
